Fiber Arts had a busy August, and the momentum is carrying right into fall. Volunteers have been showing up everywhere this month, tuning looms, reorganizing cabinets, and helping run orientations, while area coordinators line up an exciting slate of new classes for the year ahead. A generous loom donation and a few new class offerings mean there’s plenty to explore in the studio this season.

A Glimåkra Loom!

Terri Byer has generously donated a beautiful eight-shaft Glimåkra loom to the studio. This large, sturdy loom is perfect for weaving rugs, but it’s just as capable as an all-purpose loom and is a wonderful addition to our lineup.

Look for it on the studio reservations page starting in late September. New to Glimåkra looms? Giovanni is happy to walk you through how it works. Reach out anytime at fiber.programming@bainbridgebarn.org.

Volunteer Appreciation

Thank You, Fiber Volunteers!

This studio runs on volunteers, and August proved it. Area coordinators spent the month lining up new classes for the year ahead, and plenty of others pitched in to keep things running smoothly.

Huge thanks to Tony Dietl for tuning up our two Leclerc looms. Thanks to his careful work, weavers will enjoy two well-tuned machines for hours of weaving ahead.

Thank you to Danielle Mariani, our sewing area coordinator, for reorganizing the sewing machine cabinets. Every cabinet now holds everything you need for that machine, all in one place. Let’s help keep it that way!

And thank you to Janna Lynn, Jenny Lidington, and Polly Du Bois for helping run Fiber Arts Orientations and Sewing Machine Certification for Sewists this month.
