Drawing
Drawing is the foundation of visual art, and we offer classes and meetups for all skill levels. Learn to capture the world around you in pencil, pen, or charcoal. Develop your observational skills, understand perspective, and bring your ideas to life on paper. Our courses range from basic sketching to advanced figure drawing, ensuring there’s always a new skill to master.
Painting
Dive into color with our painting classes! Explore the fluidity of watercolors, the vibrancy of acrylics, or the richness of oils. You’ll find opportunities to expand your artistic horizons from still life to landscapes, portraits, and abstract expressionism. Our instructors will guide you through color theory, composition, and painting techniques.
Cross-Studio Collaboration
The skills you’ll develop in our studio extend beyond canvas and paper. Members from other BARN studios often join us to enhance their design skills, whether they’re sketching furniture plans or visualizing jewelry designs. Fall Holds Firsts and Favorites for Drawing & Painting
The Drawing & Painting Studio debuts its first-ever water-soluble oil painting class (starts Oct. 10, 10 AM – 12:30 PM), puts a Halloween spin on Inktober, and rolls out a full slate of pastel, ink, and mixed-media classes. Whether you’re picking up a brush for the first time or looking to try a new medium, there’s a place for you at the easel this season.
Rock September at Free Rock Swap and Shop (and Fall Classes)
Don’t miss our free, community-wide swap of rocks, gems, and lapidary finds, from raw stones to polished cabochons, at our Rock Swap and Shop 10 AM to 1 PM on Sunday, Sept. 20. And take a look at our highlighted fall classes in all 11 of our studios.

September brings watercolors, sketchbooks, and community back to the Drawing & Painting Studio. Watercolor Open Studio and Community Drawing both return this fall along with a two-day watercolor workshop with Ina Xi.
