BARN Great Room

Michael Brown is an experienced pen-turner whose work spans multiple BARN studios. All are welcome to this presentation, which will include a live demonstration with camera projection for close viewing of his technique and process.

Mike’s pen-turning journey began in 2007, after he inherited his father’s woodworking tools and pen kits. What started as a tribute became a passion. Mike has turned everything from wood and acrylic to bronze and ebonite, designing and 3D printing custom jigs in the Tech Lab for segmented pens (check him out on Shopify and Instagram). He’s now exploring dip pens and handmade inks created from natural materials, such as walnuts, blueberries, and goldenrod, in the Fabric Art Studio Dye Lab, as well as customized nib organizers made in the Print & Book Arts Studio. Mike teaches pen-turning classes in the Woodshop throughout the year.

Please note that this is the third Saturday of the month, rather than our usual second Saturday. The monthly woodworkers’ presentation is free, and everyone is invited. Coffee and pastries will be served.
