Celebrate National Poetry Month with the annual Ars Poetica exhibition in The Commons. See dozens of works from multiple studios, and read the poems by BARN writers that inspired them.

In partnership with Eagle Harbor Books, BIMA celebrates the latest publications of acclaimed writers Sasha LaPointe and Tayi Tibble in a reading followed by an audience Q&A moderated by island writer B.L. Crook.

Open mic with a featured reading by Abby E. Murray, editor of “Collateral,” a literary journal concerned with the impact of violent conflict and military service beyond the combat zone. She is widely published and the winner of the 2024 Neil Postman Award. Her book “Hail and Farewell” won the Perugia Press Poetry Prize and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award.
Begins Tuesday, April 23, 3 – 5 PM in the Writers Studio
This three-week generative and analytic course will guide you in writing six or more poems informed by personal memory. By examining contemporary texts and experimenting with prompts, you’ll build an understanding of how memory-based scenes and references take shape and find a dwelling place within poems. |
