I’m a BARN member. How do I get fob access to the Culinary Arts Studio?2024-06-18T15:21:09-07:00

Because the Culinary Arts Studio must follow state food safety regulations to maintain its commercial kitchen permit, fob access is only granted on a case-by-case basis by the Culinary Arts Studio Lead and BARN Event Coordinator.

Does the Culinary Arts Studio have open studio hours?2024-06-18T15:20:42-07:00

Occasionally, the studio offers supervised “open house” events when members and non-members can use the kitchen for special projects.

  • Take a class—that’s a great introduction!
  • Take the FREE Culinary Arts Orientation for prospective volunteers. You’ll learn how the Culinary Arts Studio works and receive an overview of the food and safety rules and regulations required to use the kitchen.
  • Become a volunteer Culinary Arts assistant. Work directly with talented instructors and learn while supporting them during their classes.
  • Teach a cooking class.

Obtain a Washington Food Handlers permit. Then take the FREE Culinary Orientation class, offered monthly, and fill out our volunteer application form.

  • Wolf stove with oven and salamander broiler
  • Moffat convection oven
  • Commercial dish-washing setup
  • 6′ x 8′ walk-in refrigerator
  • 22.6-cubic-foot reach-in freezer
  • Dry storage areas
  • Pans and small-wares are available for use, but do not provide for every need or specialization
