The Tech Lab keeps humming along this September with laser cutting, 3D printing, and a brand-new vector graphics class landing on the schedule. Laser 101 opens up BARN’s laser cutter to first-timers, while Introduction to 3D Printing and Vector Graphics 101 build out your digital fabrication toolkit. Drop by the AI on BI Series or a Kitsap Cosplay Guild meetup for something a little more social. Whatever your project, there’s a machine, a class, or a community waiting for you.

Tech Lab Community

AI on BI Series

Thursday, Aug. 13, 6:30 – 7:30 PM: Join peers and professionals from Bainbridge Island for an evening of presentations and demonstrations exploring artificial intelligence. No coding background needed, just curiosity about where this technology is headed.

Kitsap Cosplay Guild: Cosplay and Costuming Community

Wednesday, Sept. 16, 6:30 – 8 PM: Meet fellow cosplay and costuming enthusiasts, swap techniques, and pick up new skills in this monthly meetup. Whether you’re building your first costume or your 50th, you’ll find a welcoming crew here.

Classes We Think You’ll Love

Laser 101: Intro to Laser Cutter Operations

Saturday, Sept. 12: Learn how to safely operate BARN’s laser cutter, make a small item, and start qualifying to use the cutter independently. This is the required first step toward laser cutter certification, opening the door to bigger laser projects down the road. Two sessions run the same day, so pick whichever fits your schedule. Choose a time: 9 – 11:30 AM or 1 – 3:30 PM

Introduction to 3D Printing

Saturday, Sept. 19, 10 AM – 12 PM: Get a up-close look at BARN’s 3D printers and learn the basics of how three-dimensional printing works, from design file to finished object. It’s the perfect entry point before you dive into your own print projects, no experience necessary, just curiosity about how digital designs become physical objects.

Vector Graphics 101: Computer Drawing With Inkscape

Saturday, Sept. 26, 10 AM – 1 PM: Learn the fundamentals of vector graphics using Inkscape, free and open-source software that powers everything from laser-cut designs to custom logos. You’ll leave with skills that transfer directly to laser cutting, engraving, and other Tech Lab projects.
