New culinary adventures await in the re-imagined culinary garden outside BARN. Thanks to hard-working volunteers, the garden has a new deck and a flourishing collection of fresh herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers.
The garden was the venue for Wayne Chang’s Yakitori class earlier this summer. Summer Youth instructor Nadja Peschke introduced her students to the garden and encouraged them to use the fresh ingredients in their projects. This week, students in the Botanical Summer Cocktails class collected herbs from the garden to create refreshing libations.
Fresh basil from the garden may find its way into Giovanni Strohmenger’s Homemade Linguini class on Sept. 9. This new kitchen garden is a valuable and beautiful resource ready to inspire kitchen artisans through the seasons.

Summer Wine Discovery: The Wines of Napa Wednesday, Aug. 30, 6-7:30 pm
We’re fortunate to have longtime Napa wine professional and current Bainbridge Island resident Phil Toohey to guide us through a tasting experience of wines from this famous region. Phil will recount Napa Valley’s rich history and share stories of working for some of the top wineries in the region.
Wood Sculpture, Tuesdays, Sept. 5-26, 6-9 pm
Learn the fundamentals of carving a sculpture from wood and gain inspiration for future projects. For all skill levels.
Beginners work on a project designed by the instructor, using wood provided. Experienced carvers can work on personal projects using wood they provide.

Try It! Enameled Earrings, Friday Sept. 8, 9:30 am-12:30 pm
This three-hour class will give you a taste of how fun and easy enameling can be! Make some stylish earrings from copper sheets and wear them out at the end of class. No experience needed.
Instructor Karin Luvaas is a Bainbridge Island artist and jeweler with a degree in encaustics, painting, and metal sculpture.
