Volunteer culinary class assistants, set your calendars!
To give everyone a fair shot at participating as volunteer class assistants, these November and December classes will be posted in Volgistics and available for sign up starting Sept. 26. Set your calendar alerts!
Would you like to assist during cooking classes?
Here’s how it works: Email culinary.vc@bainbridgebarn.org to schedule a culinary class assistant orientation. Each class has two assistants so you’ll have someone there to help you learn the ropes. The Culinary Arts Studio depends on the hard work of volunteer assistants and our paid dishwashers. It’s a fun way to experience new cuisines, get an insider’s view of a commercial kitchen operation, learn food safety, and support our studio. Plus, even though you’re not taking the class, you’ll get to taste some of the delicious food being prepared!
Bring the kids
When school’s out, we’re here for some baking fun. On Veterans Day Nov. 11, bring your kids and join Anne Willlhoit to make cookies using unique flours. During the December break, kids can make holiday cookies and chocolates for gifting.

Make meals for Helpline House
The Culinary Arts Studio has teamed up with Helpline House to make freezeable meals for local families and individuals experiencing food insecurity. These soups and stews are deeply appreciated. Not only are they nutritious and quick to get on the table, they also carry the special touch of home cooking.
Each month, culinary arts volunteers organize a community service cooking class for eight participants, leading preparation of recipes for 80-90 delicious meals. The cost of the class covers ingredients, food containers, and a dishwasher— and some soup to take home. Past examples include minestrone, beef stew, and chicken tortilla soup.
Upcoming sessions:
Oct. 28, 4 – 7 PM — Community Service: Soups, Stews, and Bowls
Dec. 3, 4 – 7 PM — Community Service: Soups, Stews, and Bowls
Beyond signing up to help cook, there are other ways to get involved. We’re always looking for volunteers to help with planning and shopping and delivery to Helpline House.
Together, we can make a big difference in our neighbors’ lives. If you’d like to help with these events, contact Joanna Bressel-Wilder at Joannabresselwilder@gmail.com.
