We’ve got fresh sessions in the forge, machine shop, welding shop, and sheet metal area, with something for total beginners and returning makers alike. Whether you want to swing a hammer, strike an arc, or run a CNC mill, there’s a class with your name on it this season.

Classes We Think You’ll Love

Machine Shop: Make a Hammer

2 meetings, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8 · 6 – 9 PM: Build your own machinist’s hammer from aluminum and brass as you pick up core metal-machining skills. It’s a hands-on, two-meeting class perfect for anyone new to the Machine Shop who wants a finished tool to show for it.

Forge: Blacksmithing a Leaf Keychain

Tuesday, Sept. 15 · 10 AM – 1 PM: Get your hands on the anvil and hammer as you forge a leaf-shaped keychain from raw steel. It’s a friendly, approachable introduction to blacksmithing, no experience required.

Welding: Cut House Numbers with CNC Plasma

Saturday, Sept. 19 · 12 – 4 PM: Design and cut your own house numbers on the CNC plasma table, then bring home a piece you’ll actually use. It’s a fun, practical way to get comfortable with plasma cutting.

Welding: TIG Skills for Beginners and Beyond

Sunday, Sept. 27 · 2 – 4:30 PM: Sharpen your Tungsten Inert Gas welding technique in this focused, skill-building session. It’s great for beginners looking to build confidence and for anyone ready to clean up their welds.

Intro to Sheet Metal Fabrication

Sunday, Oct. 4 · 2 – 4:30 PM: Take your first steps in sheet metal work by cutting, bending, and shaping your own display stand. It’s a great entry point into a whole new corner of the Metal Fabrication Studio.

Get Involved

Metal Fab Tidy-Friday is our monthly volunteer cleanup and maintenance morning, and a great way to meet fellow studio members. It happens most Fridays from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Register or reach out to the studio if you’d like to join in.
