Dear BARN community:
I have seen and heard about many of your creative approaches to making things, even while access to BARN has been elusive. I am inspired and eager to hear more stories!
We hope to be able to offer limited open studios sometime this fall, as soon as Kitsap County has held steady or dropped in numbers of new cases of COVID-19 for at least two weeks.
Meanwhile, we are adding new online classes every week! Thanks to the ingenuity and dedication of this community, we are developing online classes that draw students from as far afield as California and Massachusetts. It is a silver lining on this viral cloud, that our craft community is connecting with other artisans across all kinds of borders. Some members have signed up for classes with far-away family members, developing a new skill together, albeit apart.
We will continue community service projects with dozens of intrepid volunteers contributing time, skills, finances, and hope.
Here’s hoping that you are all well, and that we’ll see you here again soon.
Find out how BARN can add craft and invention to your life. A non-profit community center for artisans and makers, BARN has studios for everything from Electronic & Technical Arts to Woodworking. Take a class, work on a project, or come to share your knowledge with others. BARN is a unique place where well-equipped studios invite exploration and innovation.
• Everyone is welcome – you do not need to be a BARN member to participate. Taking a class is a great way to learn more about a studio and meet others who share your interests. All classes are open to ages 14 and up.
• Interested in joining a studio? Visit the studio pages on our website to learn more about each studio and see a complete schedule of upcoming events.
You can always help sustain BARN’s mission by donating! Donate here to join your friends and fellow community members in making this center a well-equipped and welcoming place.
