This year’s Transgender Day of Remembrance, hosted by Bainbridge Pride and Kitsap Pride Network, is about honoring the lives of transgender people lost this past year due to anti-transgender violence. The event will feature a discussion on transgender issues and politics with Marsha Botzer and Monisha Harrell of Equal Rights Washington.

You can get a preview of the event in this podcast with Eve Palay, one of the event organizers, and BCB host Christina Hulet. Together, they cover a range of topics, including what is both challenging and amazing about being a transgender person, how to create a sense of community, and why an event like this is relevant to all of us. They also discuss Bainbridge’s Trans Friendly Parent Support Group and other community resources.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance will be on Saturday, November 23 at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art at 2pm. This is a free event. You can register or learn more at: http://www.biartmuseum.org/event/transgender-day-of-remembrance
