At a Glance

BARN (Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network) is a non-profit organization formed in 2012 to build and operate a hands-on center for craft and invention on Bainbridge Island, WA. Originally operated out of a temporary 2,500 square foot facility on Bainbridge Island, BARN opened its 25,000 square foot facility featuring ten well-equipped artisan studios in June 2017.

BARN includes artisan studios focused on the following disciplines:

  • Fiber Arts
  • Glass Arts
  • Jewelry & Fine Metals
  • Media Arts
  • Metal Fabrication
  • Print & Book Arts
  • Tech Lab
  • Woodworking & Small Boat Building
  • Writers

Classes and Events

Each of the studios offers an ongoing series of classes, events, and open studios. All classes are open to anyone ages 14 and up. BARN memberships are available, and offer discounts on classes and open studio times, as well as special events.

Land Acknowledgment

We would like to begin by acknowledging that the land on which we gather is within the ancestral territory of the suq̀ʷabš “People of Clear Salt Water” (Suquamish People). Expert fisherman, canoe builders and basket weavers, the suq̀ʷabš live in harmony with the lands and waterways along Washington’s Central Salish Sea as they have for thousands of years. Here, the suq̀ʷabš live and protect the land and waters of their ancestors.
