Teen Night Paraeducator

Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN) is a regional nonprofit center for arts and crafts on Bainbridge Island. Our mission is to grow and inspire a creative community through craft, learning, and service. As a Teen Night Paraeducator, you will support that mission by working closely with youth in grades 7-12 to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

Successful candidates have experience working with neurodiverse individuals, enjoy working with teens, can manage group dynamics, and support the social, emotional, and recreational development of participants. Candidates with a WA State Paraeducator Certificate are highly preferred. 

One part-time position is available. The position is in-person with hourly compensation. Teen Nights are held on the second Friday of each month, October through May, with the exception of April, which is the third Friday to accommodate schools’ Spring Break. Candidates will work from 5:45 – 9:15 PM for each event. 

Reports to: Youth Programs Coordinator and Operations Manager

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide general supervision and support to teens during Teen Night activities, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Promote positive behavior and engage with youth to build rapport and encourage participation.
  • Support staff in managing group transitions, addressing conflicts, and maintaining program rules.
  • Assist in implementing accommodations or behavioral plans for students with special needs, as directed.
  • Communicate effectively with other staff, volunteers, and supervisors regarding participant needs or concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold all safety and organizational policies.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working successfully with neurodiverse individuals
  • Enjoys working with teens
  • Able to manage group dynamics of both large and small groups
  • Washington State Paraeducator Certification is strongly preferred

Pay Range: For candidates with a WA State Paraeducator Certificate – $30 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.

For candidates without a WA State Paraeducator Certificate – $20 to $25 per hour, depending on experience.
