March and April Classes are Here!

You know, The Big Dark and Cold eventually gives way to The Slight Thaw. It’ll be early spring before we know it, and we’ll be ready for new adventures. With that in mind, our March and April classes are now on the website.

Dinner classes have been popular all winter, keeping us cozy and our spirits up. We’ve got more:

You requested baking classes, so here’s a big one! While there’s still a chill in the air, Argentinian pastry chef Pamela Arriagada is bringing her Beyond Croissants workshop to BARN on March 29. It’s a full-day affair that will teach you not only the basics of bread making, but also all about yeasted enriched dough. You’ll learn how to laminate butter into it and shape it into flaky, buttery pastries: medialunas, facturas, and savory morning buns.

Other delicious classes that go deep into cultural and artisanal culinary techniques:

These are just some of the highlights. We’ve got new classes going on the website every week. And look for open studios, youth classes, and community service events.

Join us March 9 for a Cookbook Potluck

The Culinary Arts Studio is kicking off a series of potluck dinners, each designed to create a fun community gathering that explores a particular cookbook and gives home chefs a chance to shine and share. For Monday, March 9, we have chosen Seattle Chef Omid Roustaei’s recent book: “Bitter & Sweet: Global Flavors from an Iranian-American Kitchen.”

Perhaps you have taken one of his lively classes at BARN? Maybe you were lucky enough to catch him at BARN during his book tour. This potluck is a great way to try his delicious and beautiful food!

  • Register for the event. (It’s FREE!)
  • At home, each registered person prepares a dish from Chef Omid’s cookbook that serves 6-8 people.

At 6 PM on March 9, we’ll all meet at BARN to share our creations! Drinks and serviceware provided.
