A specially-designed cabinet built by BARN volunteers was lifted into place this week at the Battle Point Astronomical Association observatory.cabinet lifted into place

The cabinet, built by Dave Whitacre, features a top with a curvature precisely cut to fit into the rounded walls of the observatory. It was painted to match the blue of the observatory’s interior walls. The new cabinet will house instruments used by telescope technicians.

“It’s wonderful to have a convenient place to store eyepieces and other equipment for the telescope,” says Battle Point Observatory President Frank Petrie. “It’s a big improvement over our folding table!”

Whitacre was assisted by BARN volunteers Mike Rehder and Wayne Chang.
