The Washington State Legislature recently expanded the definition of “retail sale” to include classes and workshops. Unfortunately, nonprofit organizations like BARN are not included in the state’s exceptions. Effective Oct. 1, BARN will start collecting and remitting sales tax to the state for all class registrations.

Members and the public will see a “Sales Tax” line item added to their total during the checkout process. The rate will be the Bainbridge Island rate of 9.2%. Questions? Ask Executive Director Grae Drake on Circle.
