The Fiber Arts have a rich heritage of more than 10,000 years and a tradition that spans cultures and continents. Within our Fiber Studio, we offer workshops in the wide world of fiber arts such as weaving, print and pattern design, dyeing, sewing, surface design, basketry, felting, knitting, spinning, embellishment, doll construction, and lace making.
We offer both foundation classes and workshops that focus on advanced techniques, designed to challenge participants to “push the fiber arts envelope” in their creations.
Today, the work of fiber artists informs fields such as fashion, costume, and accessories design and has applications in furnishings and textile restoration. Our studio focuses on both traditional and non-traditional methods developing a language of color, pattern, and texture. We aim to use these skills not only as artisans but also as critical thinkers and creative problem solvers.
Collaboration and community service are strong elements woven into the framework of our studio. The Studio aims to be collaborative with other BARN studios/shops, local organizations that support and foster fiber arts, and artisans who aim to teach and share with others. We invite you to please join us at one of our gatherings, lectures, classes, open studios, or workshops.
