New ‘Try it!’ Tag

This is a new tag we are creating to highlight the many ways the community can jump in and participate in our classes.

Here are the guidelines:

Try it! Classes, launching August 2021 

  • The idea behind this concept is to offer more opportunities for individuals to jump in and try a class that is designed for beginners, with a short time commitment – and to communicate with the community that we are accessible and welcoming to newcomers!  
  • 2-4 hour one-day classes in all studios 
  • Beginner level, accessible to all. 
  • Project-based, students will leave with something they’ve created.  
  • Pricing is based on the course calculator.  
  • Title format is ‘Try it!’ followed by the name of the class. Example: ‘Try it! Customized Pendant Necklace.’  
  • We will have a special icon/graphic to reinforce the concept.  
  • We are creating an additional tag in Wild Apricot with a special calendar view. 
  • We will have initial marketing splash in September to launch this concept.
  • We’d like to work up to studios offering two of these classes per month by the end of 2021. 

 

Youth Maker Mondays 2021-22

This program is an opportunity to welcome youth to BARN in after-school programs – teaching foundational skills and allowing for self-directed, creative projects.  BISD students are released from school 90 minutes early on Mondays, making this a prime day & time for activity!  

  • Age: 10-16 year olds, can vary by class.  (Please break on the even numbers) 
  • 2:30-5:00pm (2.5 hours) 
  • 3-week sessions
  • Base Price for all classes is $90 & $110 (Materials are added on top of this base price.) 
  • Title format is ‘Youth Maker Mondays: Class Name (Ages X-X)’.  For example, ‘Youth Maker Mondays: Stained Glass Workshop (Ages 10-14)’
  • Jess will provide snacks in the Commons – time TBD.

Session Dates: 

  • Fall session 1:  October 4, 11, 18 (outdoor canopies available) 
  • Fall session 2:  November 1, 8, 15,
  • Fall session 3:  November 29, December 6 & 13 (Great for Holiday themed activity) 
  • Winter Session 1: January 10, 24, 31
  • Winter Session 2: February 7, 14, 28 (including a Valentine’s day!) 
  • Winter Session 3: March 7, 14, 21
  • Spring Session 1:  April 11, 18, 25 (outdoor canopies available)
  • Spring Session 2:  May 2, 9, 16 (outdoor canopies available) 

 

 

Teen Nights 2021-22

At BARN on Second Fridays of the month, 6-9pm (except October and April which will be the 3rd Fridays)  

  • October 15 (not October 8th as we originally planned, we moved it due to Homecoming at BHS.)  
  • November 12 
  • December 10
  • January 14
  • February 11
  • March 11 
  • April 15 (3rd Friday due to BISD Spring Break April 4-8)
  • May 13

 

Summer Youth 2022

  • Details of all classes to Tammie by February 1, 2022
  • Submit class info via THIS FORM.
  • July 11 – August 11 (5 weeks) 
  • Classes run Monday-Thursday
  • Either 9am – Noon OR 1-4pm 
  • Ages: 8 – 18, with breaks on the even numbers (ex: 12-14, 8-12, etc.) 
  • Size of groups determined by studios
  • Outdoor classroom (large canopy) available for two classes each week (one in morning and one in afternoon.) – max. 6 students per class
  • We’d like to have at least two classes per studio (more welcome, of course!) 
  • Shooting for a combined total of at least 30 classes over the course of the five weeks.
