Last summer, Eagle Harbor Community Church learned they had to cut down a large black locust tree. They wanted to find a way to repurpose the wood and provide a friendly resting spot for EHCC members and friends, Pea Patch gardeners, Madrona school personnel and families, and the general public.

A member of the church knew about BARN’s mission-based Community Service projects and reached out. A group of 8 dedicated volunteers teamed up to build a beautiful memorial bench from the old locust tree. The church provided the tree to BARN for milling, and the team got to work. Completed in August of 2021, this outdoor live edge slab bench brought EHCC’s vision full circle. You can now find a resting spot at the corner of Winslow Way and Madison in Winslow for the greater community to enjoy.
