We will learn about how he and his neighbor focused their engineering know-how to turn a boyhood dream into reality in their own backyard over a period of twenty years.

BARNTalks: The Big Bang and Sub-Atomic Collisions (Free Event)

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Our February event is a fascinating talk about the European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN, a European research organization that operates the largest particle physics laboratory in the world.  Bjorn Nielsen will present a number of stories about working at CERN.  He will share many of the peculiarities about the people and the place, and a bit about the physics done there including some live – or nearly live – results. Bjorn will touch on issues in designing, engineering, and CERN’s support of the arts.

BARNTalks: Vintage Trailer to Palace on Wheels (Free Event)

Tuesday, March 10, 2020

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

BARN Great Room

Our March event features the dynamic duo of Walter Dill and Monica Uhl who will share the steps along their journey to have a big impact in the world while living in a small footprint.

Their talk will focus primarily on the creative process of transforming of a neglected 1956 Airfloat travel trailer into a spectacular tiny home. Their rig ‘Talulah’ is packed with incredible custom woodworking elements and thoughtful design details.

Monica and Walter will tell tales of the various design challenges they encountered along the way and the lessons they learned through their mistakes and successes throughout the project. They will show photos of key interior and exterior features and demonstrate how their design choices reflect their character.

Even if you’ve never dreamed of living in a tiny space, we think you’ll be inspired by the stories and life experience of this engaging couple.
