Nutshell Pram Auction - BARN

Nutshell Pram Auction

Nutshell pram

Here’s your chance to own a beautiful Nutshell Pram, designed by legendary boatbuilder Joel White and built by a BARN team guided by an experienced boat builder.

Until 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23 — the end of the annual BARN Bazaar — you can place a bid on this boat, which is ideal for rowing and sailing in sheltered waters. It is also suitable as a dinghy towed behind a larger craft.

The boat is made of the best materials available: okoume marine plywood throughout, with sapele knees, keel, and other structural parts. The marine plywood is sealed inside and out with thinned epoxy and painted with marine enamel.

The boat comes with a dagger board, rudder, tiller, and dagger board cap. The boat is prepped for adding a mast and sail, but those aren’t included.

All proceeds will support BARN, including the boatbuilding program in the Woodworking Studio.

The pram is displayed downstairs in the Commons at BARN. You can view it from 10 am to 4 pm Mondays through Saturdays and from 1 to 3 pm on Sundays. Questions? Please email

The details:

Bidding starts at $1,500, with bid increments of $50. If you enter a bid more than $50 above the current top bid, the system will show only your $50 increment but will raise your bid to match any new bid as long as it’s under your maximum, keeping you in the top position. Once your maximum is reached, you will receive an email inviting you to raise your bid.

The auction ends at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 — at the end of the BARN Bazaar.

The winning bidder will be notified. We will accept credit card, check or cash, although the auction form mentions only checks. Delivery can be arranged. If we cannot contact you within five days of the end of the auction, we will award the bid to the next-highest bidder.
