Nanz Aalund

Certificate Programs Coordinator

Nanz Aalund’s wide ranging career as a jewelry designer, goldsmith, and educator, began in high school shop class and brought her to BARN in July of 2019.

After serving as a fine jewelry designer for Nordstrom, and Tiffany & Co., and as a marketing consultant for Neiman Marcus, Aalund taught jewelry/metals classes at the University of Washington and at the Art Institute in Seattle. Nanz then earned her Masters of Fine Art (MFA/Metals) at the UW in Seattle and her Masters of Education in College and Technical Teaching Curriculum (CTTC) at WWU in Bellingham. She was part of the leadership team for IslandWood during its first eighteen years and has brought that experience to BARN. She completed her PhD in Environmental Studies in 2003, with a focus on experiential learning, human development, and teacher education. Carolyn Goodwin

Carolyn Goodwin

Marketing Manager

Carolyn has more than 30 years of professional experience as a corporate marketing executive and consultant. She has also volunteered for many Island non-profits, and is a passionate advocate for local food. Since the late 1990’s, Carolyn has actively supported the food and farming community on and around Bainbridge Island. She co-founded Sound Food, a non-profit group dedicated to strengthening the food system in Kitsap County and the West Sound area, and served on the boards of Sustainable Bainbridge and One Call for All.

Carolyn’s involvement with BARN began in 2012. She served on the BARN Board of Directors during the visioning and building stage, and has volunteered as a member of the Kitchen Arts Steering and Programming Committees. Today her energy is focused on growing class participation and membership,  and expanding awareness of BARN both regionally and nationally.

When she’s not at BARN, Carolyn enjoys playing with food — growing it, cooking it, reading about it, and eating it. And she looks forward to someday having the time to take all of the classes that she spends so much time promoting.

Meghan has almost 20  years experience in the Hospitality and Food Service Industry.  After finishing her degree in History and Psychology from Boston University, she attended the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco where she received an Associates in Culinary Arts.  She went on to work as a chef in restaurants, hotels, and corporate dining throughout the Bay Area.
